As new moms, some of us make the mistake of thinking we have to start dressing like the proverbial ‘soccer mom’. I’m not sure if it is celebrity moms demanding hipper, trendier looks, or just the changing views of mothers in general, but increasingly new moms are looking for clothes that allow them to keep their personalities.
Breastfeeding certainly doesn’t have to get in the way of our sense of style, and with that in mind, here are some great ideas to help you rock the breastfeeding tank:
Classy Cardi: Breastfeeding tank tops can have a really nice cut and can also be found in a huge range of colours and stripes. Look for a classy cardi you can wear between seasons to add a touch of simple elegance. and even a little cover for when you are feeding. You can team your tank top with a cute ankle length or mid thigh length skirt in floral prints to ‘pretty-up’ the look.
All Business Blazers: Tanks are always cute when worn with a blazer, especially the ever-elegant solid black blazer. Black double-breasted blazers with silver buttons are coming back in style, but if you want to go with this look keep the jacket open. You can get some great looks mixing and matching the latest colours and cuts, and because you don’t have to do up the buttons, you can likely use some of your favourite blazers from your pre-baby wardrobe. You might also look for blazers that reach just below the bottom to help streamline your new baby body.
Add a Scarf: Scarves have made a big comeback in recent years, and you can use them to create a layered look without interfering with feeding when needed. You can look for lightweight scarves in silks and cotton weaves and mix and match them to create different looks from stylish to casual. They go nicely when worn with cardis and blazers if you don’t find them too cumbersome, and can be a perfect to use as a nursing cover when breastfeeding.
Accessorize: Don’t forget to accessorize. Look for great earrings to wear if you find your hair is always up in a ponytail, or use cute headbands to keep your hair off of your face. Necklaces can also do wonders to dress up a tank top.
Peachymama has a range of nursing tank tops that you won’t find anywhere else, and I know you won’t have any trouble rocking with these easy ideas.
